Artist's Description
Grafton Ghost Town, A National Register Historic Site. Settled in 1859 by 5 families sent by Brigham Young to plant crops (cotton), dig irrigation ditches and build homes. Floods and Navajo attacks conributed to Grafton becoming a ghost town in the early years. In 1896 Utah became a US State and Grafton bustled again until 1906 when the building of a canal to divert water 20 miles upstream caused most residents to relocate, and Grafton gradually became a ghost town for the second time...and so it remains. The Grafton Heritage Partnership Project is dedicated to preservation of the historic Grafton townsite.
About Wendy Elliott
FINE ARTS LOGO WILL NOT APPEAR ON PRINTS Welcome, thanks so much for viewing my work and offering any comments, favorites or votes! I have always had a love for photography and have begun to pursue it more seriously in the last 11 years. I think my greatest love is landscape, I truly am in awe of nature and love to capture the beauty to share with others. I also enjoy finding an abandoned ghost town, rustic barns or vintage vehicles. I am fortunate to be able to travel into new areas and see the wonders Mother Nature offers, then to be able to capture an image and share it with you. Knowing that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' instills a desire to find new and diverse scenes. If one of my images evokes emotion within...

Nice capture, Wendy! Here you are in my state and I had never heard of Grafton! Looks like I need to get out more! ;-)
Wendy Elliott replied:
Grafton is just on the other side of Zion, not far! There are only a few buildings but they are working hard to preserve them and stop vandalism. Thanks for your comments!
