Description
Grafton Ghost Town, A National Register Historic Site. Settled in 1859 by 5 families sent by Brigham Young to plant crops (cotton), dig irrigation ditches and build homes. Floods and Navajo attacks conributed to Grafton becoming a ghost town in the early years. In 1896 Utah became a US State and Grafton bustled again until 1906 when the building of a canal to divert water 20 miles upstream caused most residents to relocate, and Grafton gradually became a ghost town for the second time...and so it remains. The Grafton Heritage Partnership Project is dedicated to preservation of the historic Grafton townsite.

Nice capture, Wendy! Here you are in my state and I had never heard of Grafton! Looks like I need to get out more! ;-)
Wendy Elliott replied:
Grafton is just on the other side of Zion, not far! There are only a few buildings but they are working hard to preserve them and stop vandalism. Thanks for your comments!
